Paintstik Primer Thursday, 9-29-16; 1-4pm You see these Shiva Paintstiks everywhere, but how do you use them? This introductory workshop will focuses on two basic ways to apply these Paintstiks to fabric: by rubbing on fabric over texture plates and by using a stencil and a brush. You'll leave class with a sample of each technique and a head full of ideas for using Paintstiks in your own artwork. It’s a perfect way to spend Saturday afternoon: exploring your creativity in this joyful and inspiring workshop. Fast & Easy Woodblock Printing Friday, 9-30-16; 1-4pm Print your own fabric and create your own designs! Working with woodblocks and fabric paint, learn how to get clean impressions, how to plan overall patterns and how to create focus quilt blocks with single impressions. This trending technique (the woodblocks are wonderful to look at even before you use them!) is perfectly suited to anyone who enjoys paint as a medium, is looking for that little extra something to bring a project to life, or simply wants to find a more creative artistic path. This Foot is Made for Walking: Quilting with a Walking Foot (Sold Out!) Friday, 9-30-16; 6-9pm Machine quilt without fear or intimidation! Just leave the feed dogs up and let the sewing machine determine stitch length. It’s easy! Class will cover basic machine quilting in straight lines, quilting parallel lines, stitching in the ditch, quilting with decorative machine stitches and my favorite “get it done” method using wavy lines and pretty threads. Leave class with samples, confidence and a brain full of ideas. Fearless FreeMotion Quilting Basics (Sold Out!) Saturday, 10-1-16; 8:30-11:30am Learn all about free motion quilting without fear or intimidation, and discover how simple and fun free motion quilting can be. It’s easy! (Cyndi’s serious; you can do this!) Cover basic free motion filler patterns including meander, loop-de-loop, and vines. Discuss personal filler patterns and why it’s useful to have a favorite go-to filler pattern in your quilting toolbox. Explore threads, needles, tension, and how to match your free motion quilting designs to your quilt. Leave class with samples, confidence, and a few tricks to boost your skill level and your confidence. Paper Piecing for Beginners Saturday, 10-1-16; 12:30-3:30 Learn to paper piece and walk away with a wonderful 17” table square! You’ll learn all the skills you need to incorporate this super-accurate piecing technique – where precise points and visual complexity become easy to execute well. So many quilts call for slender pieces, points and a mastery of matching, you are likely to want to incorporate this piecing technique over and over again. Pick up a collection of hints to keep things simple and foolproof, as you leave with knowledge to complete your project with confidence at home. It’ll be fun!
