Feverfew
25” wide x 30” high
This quilt was completed as part of the Healing Quilts in Medicine project, initiated by Judy House. Feverfew is part of a beautiful collection of 37 art quilts that hang at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Each quilt depicted a cheerful subject that would uplift people waiting in a hospital or an organism used in cancer research or treatment.
Much of the fabric came from my own sizable black-and-white fabric collection, but some of it came from Judy's stash. Each petal was constructed separately and then sewn to the center, which is stuffed with several layers of batting and intensely quilted with variegated thread. The spiral in the center was constructed of rickrack and jet beads.
This quilt belongs to Walter Reed Army Medical Center and hangs on their oncology floor.
