Color!

24” wide x 38” high

This quilt was my final response to the Mason Dixon Quilt Professionals' Network challenge: To Color  or Not to Color.  What do you think of when you hear the word color?  Crayons?  Me, too.  Binney & Smith, the company that owns Crayola, was very kind to give me permission to use this image.

I wanted the crayons to be the only color present in the quilt; the rest is grayscale.  The crayons were assembled using white glue and then machine appliqué around the raw edges.  I used QuiltWriting to add my own names for the colors.  The writing on the crayon package is painted.

Color! is traveling with the rest of the To Color or Not to Color exhibit.  It started out at the MidAtlantic Quilt Festival and will continue to travel throughout 2008.  If you are interested in booking the exhibit, e-mail FranMill@yahoo.com.

When Color! returns to me at the end of 2008, it will be available for sale.  $2,200.
